Bite the beauty bait
Beauty, at times, acts as a lure, capturing us by distracting us from all questioning and access to our true selves. This untouchable beauty demands inhibition from us; it says, "Beauty is not to be touched," it is not to be consumed or enjoyed, it is only to be contemplated.
Beauty that presents itself as that brilliant light that, by dazzling, blinds, and does not allow one to see beyond, to be deceived by beauty, to be taken by it, to the point of walking stumbling.
This is how Mónica represents her pieces, as a trapping of the self in the captivating image of beauty, in that classical idea of beauty that captures.
